Hoffmann &#8211; host of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/the-safety-pro-podcast\/id953527700?ls=1&amp;mt=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Safety Pro Podcast<\/a>\u00a0and author of the book &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Rethinking-SAFETY-Culture-Blaine-Hoffmann\/dp\/B0CFZ862VF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Rethinking SAFETY Culture<\/a>&#8221; &#8211; to learn his safety tips.<\/p>\n<p>As always &#8211; these tips are provided as guidelines for you to follow.\u00a0 Please be sure to follow the specific tips offered by your facility.<\/p>\n<p>Here are five great tips from Blaine and a bonus tip from him and me.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Slips, Trips, and Falls Prevention and Protocols<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Housekeeping, alerting maintenance to issues, and making sure your facilities are properly marked off with safety floor tape and signs are vital.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Understanding Materials and Mechanical Handling<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Because receiving, handling, and shipping products are being handled both by hand and with all shapes and sizes of machinery &#8211; it&#8217;s important to know exactly what you&#8217;re supposed to be doing and where you&#8217;re allowed to do it at all times.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Avoiding Falling Objects<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; With racks and shelving as part of many facilities &#8211; it&#8217;s important to know all the proper weight limits, stacking guidelines, height restrictions, and anything related to your warehouse.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fire Safety and Protection<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Storage and disposal of flammable items need to be front of mind.\u00a0 And knowing what to do, who to contact, and where to go in the event of a fire &#8211; is equally important.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Proper PPE<\/strong>\u00a0(Personal Protective Equipment) &#8211; This is something we cover on a regular basis, and will continue to do so in the future.\u00a0 Making sure staff are wearing safety boots, gloves, hats, masks, respirators, vests, belts, harnesses, glasses, hearing protection, and anything else that will keep them safe needs to be constantly trained and enforced.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>\n<p>Bonus 1 &#8211;\u00a0<strong>Emergency Preparedness via an EAP (Emergency Action Plan)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;
