this podcast is going to be different from most you listen to.\u00a0 It&#8217;s based around exactly what the name implies &#8211; Warehouse Safety Tips.\u00a0 And since the people in that industry are busy &#8211; we know time is money, so each episode will be as short and to the point as possible.<\/p>\n<p>And now that all that is out of the way &#8211; let&#8217;s get to the Podcast!<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\nMany of our messages are simple and to the point.\u00a0 And as I&#8217;ve mentioned in past episodes &#8211; many of the messages we deliver on this podcast come from experiences in facilities and\/or life.<\/p>\n<p>Our message today is one from life &#8211; but certainly one that happens in facilities all the time, and that&#8217;s slipping.<\/p><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Our son plays high school football.\u00a0 This time of the year in Ohio, it&#8217;s not out of the ordinary for there to be rain, snow, and\/or ice present.\u00a0 But for what I&#8217;m about to mention &#8211; just being damp is enough.\u00a0 Enough for what?\u00a0 Enough to make metal bleachers become incredibly slippery to walk on.\u00a0 Before finding a seat this week &#8211; I almost wiped out twice in just a couple of minutes.\u00a0 At the same game &#8211; there were kids running and sliding on the bleachers (&#8220;Risky Business&#8221; Style) too.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>A month or so ago, I mentioned we&#8217;ve covered this topic before &#8211; and that we&#8217;d cover it again.\u00a0 This situation is no different.\u00a0 It&#8217;s JUST that important!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I mentioned the following items as potential ways to cut down incidents:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>If you&#8217;re in an area with regular rain, snow, and\/or ice &#8211; stamp and wipe your shoes\/boots off at entrances.<\/li>\n<li>Have mats and\/or fans at entrances and areas that get slick.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure there are floor markings and\/or signs alerting staff that areas are slick.<\/li>\n<li>Use floor markings and\/or signs with non-slip properties.\u00a0 Anything that has a grip to it is ideal.<\/li>\n<li>Have maintenance regularly mop slick areas.<\/li>\n<li>And one of THE most important tips of all &#8211; if you see an area is wet or slick, alert the proper people and do one or several of the before mentioned tips.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Something I neglected to mention that should be common sense but isn&#8217;t &#8211; is not taking chances and\/or participating in horseplay.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Much like the above-mentioned kids purposely sliding &#8211; even though it&#8217;s a movie reference, it IS\u00a0<em>Risky Business<\/em>!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>If you know an area is one where slips and falls are possible, work with maintenance and management to remedy the situation as thoroughly as possible.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>And even though it might take you back to your youth and\/or look fun &#8211; NEVER try to slide and\/or take part in any horseplay while at work.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Your safety and the safety of your co-workers should never SLIP your mind!<\/div>\n<div>\nBefore moving on &#8211;
