If you’re a seasoned Podcast Listener – this podcast is going to be different from most you listen to. It’s based around exactly what the name implies – Warehouse Safety Tips. And since the people in that industry are busy – we know time is money, so each episode will be as short and to the point as possible. And now that all that is out of the way – let’s get to the Podcast!

I recently saw a sign that read, “Beware Of Falling Deer: Leopards conceal their unfinished food in the tops of trees” In addition to the fact that there should have been a “Beware Of Leopards!” Sign as well – the point is, it’s there for a reason. As silly as that sign seems – at SOME point and time, a deer probably fell from a tree and either hit or come close to hitting someone.

The workplace is no different.

Think of the signs you see every day.

Signs with statements like “Employees Wash Your Hands Before Returning To Work” or images that depict being electrocuted or having your hand chewed up in a machine. They’re all around us.

And just like the falling deer – they’ve been displayed because someone somewhere not only did it – but did it enough that someone finally said, “We NEED a sign!”

Before moving on – here’s a word from one of our sponsors. If you’ve ever been to or worked in a warehouse – you know just how important safety is to both management and staff. Now back to the Podcast…

In the first part of this Podcast – we discussed Signs and the reasons why they exist.

In the next half of the Podcast – we’re going to look at Floor Markings as well.

Whether it’s lines, angles, footprints, dots, and/or the previously mentioned signs – there are all sorts of cues in the workplace that tell you the best possible way to stay safe, productive, and organized.

Can you imagine how chaotic traffic would be without Traffic and Walkway Lights at intersections? There would be accidents and deaths all the time if we didn’t regulate traffic. And even though we have systems like that in place – we still have people that don’t pay attention and/or ignore the rules altogether.

In our private lives – Police regulate this. At our facilities – that job is tasked to Management and/or Security Guards. Neither are there to hassle you – but to keep you safe, and make sure you and your fellow employees go home in one piece, safe and secure.

Much like the Traffic Lights – Floor Markings and Signs tell us – this is the most safe way to proceed. But you MUST obey them for them to work.

So the next time you see yet another sign in the workplace – you know the one, it states how many days your facility has gone without an accident. Be sure to contribute to it – NOT take the number down to Zero!
